Before becoming a freelance photographer, I worked in international development doing research and projects on urban poverty, environment and technology. I loved it. But even more, I loved finding visual ways to communicate to a wider audience. The process of working with and engaging people through photography and video is one I really value whether it is shooting, editing or facilitating.
These days my work is divided between commissioned work and my own personal projects exploring narratives of identity, urbanisation and political ecology.
I have an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication, and a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University.
I interned with Cheryl Newman at the Telegraph Magazine, and have since freelanced as a picture editor / research for magazines and NGOs.
Born in Canada, roots in India and Spain, lived in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Malaysia, and UK.
I speak Spanish, and intermediate Portuguese & French.
I also do a lot of consulting for international development organizations on interactive knowledge sharing and research communication. Clients include the International Development Research Centre, telecentre.org and Majority World. Contact me for more info.
